Inner Mosaic

A Therapeutic Art Journal Group

This monthly Saturday workshop invites you to explore your inner world through a blend of Internal Family Systems (IFS), guided meditation, and creative collage journaling in a small and supportive group setting.

What Can I Expect?

Why Art Journaling?

Is this a good fit for me?

Who is not a good fit?

Each Inner Mosaic workshop follows a gentle flow designed to support both creativity and self-discovery.

We begin by grounding ourselves, setting intentions, and creating group agreements to establish a safe and welcoming space for all. A guided meditation helps you connect with your inner parts, which then unfold into a spacious time of collage and art journaling using the provided materials. The group concludes with reflection and optional sharing, allowing you to reflect on your process and connect with others in the community. You’ll leave with a completed journal spread and a deeper sense of connection to yourself.

The max group size is 8 participants and 1 facilitator. We will get cozy, listen to music, and make fantastic art and memories together.

Art journaling is more than just making something beautiful on the page—it’s a way of giving form to your inner experience. The process of combining images, paint, words, and textures bypasses the thinking mind, allowing hidden feelings, memories, and parts of ourselves to surface gently and safely. Through collage and creative expression, we can discover new perspectives, externalize emotions that are hard to put into words, and make space for healing. The journal becomes both a container and a companion, holding your inner story in a tangible, evolving form.

It’s also just super fun!

Inner Mosaic is designed for individuals who want to explore their inner world gently and creatively, while also connecting with their local community. This is a therapeutic space where your inner mosaic can be expressed and honored.

This group may be a good fit if you:

  • You are curious about your inner parts and want to deepen your self-awareness through Internal Family Systems (IFS) practices and connect to Self-energy.

  • You enjoy or are open to exploring creativity, even if you don’t consider yourself “artistic.”

  • You desire a safe, supportive space to reflect, journal, and express yourself without pressure or judgment.

  • You value small-group in-person connection and are willing to respect confidentiality and group agreements.

  • You are looking for a therapeutic practice that complements your personal growth, healing, or ongoing therapy journey.

Inclusivity Statement
This group is open to adults of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. I strive to create a space that honors diversity in gender, sexuality, race, culture, body size, ability, and belief systems. Everyone is welcome, and each person’s unique story is valued as part of the creative and healing process.

While Inner Mosaic is designed to be accessible and supportive, it may not be the right fit for everyone. This group may not be a good match if:

  • You are currently in acute crisis or experiencing severe mental health symptoms that need more intensive, one-on-one support.

  • You are seeking individual therapy or treatment—this group is therapeutic but not a substitute for personal therapy or medical care.

  • You are uncomfortable with or unwilling to respect group agreements around confidentiality, non-judgment, and supportive sharing.

  • You prefer structured art instruction—this group is about creative expression and parts work, not learning artistic techniques.

  • You feel strongly resistant to group settings or are looking for private guidance only.

This doesn’t mean you’re excluded from future participation—it simply ensures that this particular workshop is safe, effective, and nurturing for those who attend. If you’re unsure whether this group is right for you, I’m happy to talk through your questions before you register.

FAQs

What materials are provided?

All creative supplies are included—bring your own blank journal or sketchbook. I provide:

  • A wide assortment of magazines and printed images for collage

  • Colored and patterned papers (scrapbook, handmade, recycled, and textured)

  • Ephemera such as envelopes, postcards, tags, tickets, and other collage treasures

  • Fabric and ribbons for texture

  • Adhesives (glue sticks, tape, washi tape, Mod Podge)

  • Cutting tools (scissors, decorative-edge scissors)

  • Markers, pens, and pencils (including gel pens and paint markers)

  • Stamps, stencils, and ink pads

  • Paints and brushes (watercolor, acrylic, or tempera depending on the session)

  • Decorative extras like stickers, washi tape, and embellishments

  • Protective materials (table covers, scrap paper, etc.)

Why do I need to bring my own journal?

There are a few important reasons for this:

  • Personal Connection: Your journal becomes a container for your unique process. Choosing one that feels right for you helps create a more meaningful, personal relationship with it.

  • Ongoing Practice: By keeping the same journal across sessions, you build a living record of your parts work and creative growth, something you can return to between workshops.

  • Practicality: Everyone has different preferences—some like larger sketchbooks, some prefer smaller notebooks, some want lined pages, others blank. Bringing your own allows you to work in the format that feels best.

  • Sustainability: Since many participants continue beyond a single workshop, it makes more sense for each person to keep their own journal rather than starting fresh each month.

What is the cost of this group?

$80 per person covers the 3-hour guided session and includes collage and painting materials.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Since this is a small group with limited spots and materials purchased in advance, I’m unable to offer refunds for cancellations. However, if you cancel with at least 72 hours’ notice, your payment will be credited toward a future Inner Mosaic workshop.

This policy helps ensure that the time, energy, and supplies invested in preparing for each group are respected, while still providing you with the flexibility to join at a later date.

Do I need any art experience?

Not at all! This workshop is about expression, not perfection. Art journaling gives your inner world a place to unfold on the page—through images, colors, words, and textures. There is no right or wrong way to do it. Some people collage, some doodle, some write more, and some just play with materials. You don’t need to identify as “artistic” to benefit from this process. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to explore.

How is this different from an art class?

Unlike an art class, there are no techniques to master and no expectation to create something “finished” or polished. Instead, this is a therapeutic space where creativity becomes a tool for self-reflection and healing. Guided by Internal Family Systems (IFS) practices, we focus on listening to your inner parts, giving them form and voice through collage and journaling. The emphasis is on personal meaning and inner connection, not artistic skill.

Is this group considered therapy?

This group is therapeutic in nature and draws on the principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS), but it should not be considered a substitute for individual therapy or medical treatment. Think of it as a creative, community-based process that supports personal growth and self-discovery. Many people find it a wonderful complement to individual therapy, but you don’t need to be in therapy to participate.
