September at Whole Sky Therapy 🍂
September always feels like a little respite from the intensity and frivolity of summer.
There’s something about this time of year that naturally invites us back into routine, grounding, and ourselves. September has always felt a bit like New Year’s to me: a perfect opportunity to reset our intentions, take stock of where we are, and refocus on the rest of the year ahead.
So, a little September check-in:
What is something you hoped to accomplish, explore, or work on this year that hasn't happened yet?
Maybe life got busy. Maybe your priorities changed. Maybe you weren't quite ready. Or maybe you simply needed to spend your energy somewhere else.
Whatever the reason, there are still a few months left in the year. What would it look like to intentionally carve out some time for that thing now? What small step could help you get back on track… or perhaps create a new track altogether?
Finding Our Ground in an Uncertain World
On a larger scale, I think many of us are searching for some sense of control in the midst of so much chaos and uncertainty in the world.
We can't control everything happening around us. In fact, there is quite a lot that we can't control.
But we can ask:
How do we make space for ourselves in the middle of the craziness?
How do we create moments of steadiness when the world feels anything but steady?
How do we find joy in the small, ordinary moments at home when so much feels out of our control?
Sometimes our locus of control gets very small… and that's okay.
Maybe it's making your morning coffee slowly. Taking the dog for a walk without your phone. Cooking something you love. Calling a friend. Getting outside. Making art. Cleaning your space. Going to bed early. Lighting a candle and letting yourself have ten quiet minutes.
These things won't fix the state of the world, but they can remind your nervous system that you are still here, living your life.
And sometimes that's a pretty powerful place to start.
Big Practice Updates
There are a few changes happening behind the scenes at Whole Sky Therapy, so I wanted to share them with you directly.
Insurance Changes
Over the past few years, working with insurance providers has become increasingly complicated and, ultimately, difficult to sustain financially for a small private practice. Providence is terminating plans at the end of the year, PacificSource has significantly downsized, and it has often felt like there's a major change or surprise every six months.
Rather than continuing to chase the constantly shifting insurance landscape, I'm simplifying. I’ll only be working with United Healthcare, Aetna, and select OHP plans beginning 2027.
I'm reducing the number of insurance payers I work with and moving toward a smaller, more sustainable group of plans. For clients who are paying privately, I will continue to offer sliding-scale options for those who are struggling to afford my regular full fee.
Accessibility has always been something I've valued deeply in my practice, and that isn't changing. The structure of the practice may continue to shift with the tides, but my goal remains the same: to make sure that people who are motivated to do this work have a pathway to getting the care they need.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as I navigate these changes.
A Note About Social Media
I'm also pursuing a new business venture that involves being much more active on social media, so you may start seeing a lot more of me online. You may even come across my content in your feed, through recommendations, or somewhere in the wilds of the internet.
Because of that, I want to take a moment to make a few things clear.
As outlined in my social media policy, I will not friend-request, follow, or engage with current or former clients through social media. This is intentional and is part of maintaining clear therapeutic boundaries and protecting your privacy.
You have zero obligation to follow me, and in many ways, it may actually be best if you don't. You are never expected to interact with my personal or professional social media presence simply because I'm your therapist.
If you happen to see me online, you don't need to acknowledge me, and I will always respect your privacy, confidentiality, and online anonymity.
And, of course, if you ever have questions or concerns about social media boundaries, you're always welcome to bring them into session. We can talk about it there, no awkward DM required.
Referrals Welcome 🐾
I am currently accepting new clients!
If you have a family member, friend, or colleague who you think might be a good fit for my practice (and who doesn't mind having a dog occasionally hanging out in their therapy session) feel free to send them my way.
I'm incredibly grateful for the support, referrals, and community that have grown around Whole Sky Therapy over the past five years- wowww! So much of this practice has been built through word of mouth and the people who have trusted me enough to send someone they care about my way.
It means a lot, and I don't take it for granted.
Inner Mosaic Collage is Back!
September 26 | 1–4 PM | Vancouver, WA
Inner Mosaic Collage is back in Vancouver!
Our September gathering will center around the Fall Equinox: a perfect opportunity to slow down, reflect, and get creative as we transition into a new season.
The Fall Equinox is all about balance, transition, release, and turning inward. We'll spend some time reflecting on what this season is asking of us before settling into an afternoon of collage, creativity, and connection.
I'm very much looking forward to being back together and settling into the best crafty months of the year!!
Come make something, get a little messy, reflect on where you've been, and imagine where you're headed next.
